Make Your Own Ribbon Paper Clip Bookmarks

These paper clip bookmarks are the cutest ever.  And they are so practical.  I use clips all the time to mark my place in books, planners, bibles or journals.  And why use a plain clip when you can dress it up with a simple piece of ribbon?  The best part of this project is that it is really easy to do and doesn't take much time at all.  You are going to love it.

Here are some brief instructions on making your own decorative clip bookmarks followed by a short video showing you the simple technique.

Supplies:

• large paper clips – these can be found at any store that sells office supplies, including the dollar store
• a small piece of ribbon (approximately 4-5 inches) – you can certainly use ribbon you purchase, but you may have some left over from gift wrappings or nice product packaging.
• glue – hot glue works well, but regular Elmer's is good, too
• a lighter or match – this will keep the edges from fraying (I'll show you how)

Instructions:

1.  Fold the ribbon and loop it through the paper clip as shown in the video below.
2.  Arrange it so that it is fairly symmetrical and looks nice.
3.   Place a small bit of glue on the back side where you have pulled the ribbon through.
4.   Pull the ribbon tight and hold until glue dries a bit.
5.   Cut any excess ribbon off the ends.
6.   LIGHTLY run the flame from your lighter or match over the edges of the ribbon.
7.   Enjoy your new ribbon paper clip bookmark.
