Create Truth Art Challenge | Devotions and Art Prompts
As I was setting my super big goals for 2017, I ran across this quote on a friend's Instagram account.
“This year let us ask God to dissolve all our hopes into a single hope: to know Christ and to be found in Him. May this be the year to desire a radically transformed, deeper, truer, knowing of Christ as our all-sufficient one.” Elisabeth Elliot
Our strivings are in vain without God. All of our New Years resolutions and 2017 plans mean nothing if we lack the saving knowledge of the Lord. We can wrap it all up in a pretty package (or planner in my case), but our trust must be in Christ and Christ alone.
So, I continued to list my goals and plot a plan to accomplish them, but my mindset changed. I want my one over-arching desire to be to know Christ more. I want to worship Him in all aspects of my life and to do all things for His glory.
And the Create Truth Art Challenge was born.
Welcome
Welcome to Create Truth Art, a three month challenge originally started in January of 2017 with the purpose of expressing our love of the Truth of the Gospel through creativity. This challenge is timeless, however, so if you have missed it live, you can still sign up and go through it at your own pace. There are no rules. There is no judgement. It is simply a tool to prompt us as we strive to grow in our Faith.
How does the Create Truth Art Challenge work?
The way the challenge is set up is that each Tuesday, I will post new Truth and Creative Prompts in the Create Truth Art classroom. Those that join in (by signing up) while the challenge is still “live”, will receive a reminder each week about the lesson. If you want to follow along on the blog, that's awesome, too. The prompts will be posted here as well. The real advantage of the Classroom is that the weeks are all listed for you all nice and neat. Plus, there are a few FREEBIES scattered among the lessons that you can only get in the Classroom. Also, whenever you sign up, you will have access to ALL PREVIOUS devotions and prompts immediately. It's totally FREE to join and lots of fun.
Do I need to be creative or an artist to join in?
The short answer is NO. The longer answer is that you ARE creative and you ARE an artist, even if you don't think you have any skills. The Creative Prompts were written with the complete beginner in mind, so if you want to follow along, you will be able to do so. However, I know that not everyone is interested in creating the kind of things I'm teaching.
And that's totally OK!
You can just follow along with the short devotions and complete the challenges you are interested in. Enjoy the opportunity to create and possibly learn something different, and don't stress if you can't get to them all or simply don't want to do them all. This is all about glorifying God through our creations and the study of His Word.
